Research Program Working Session
Sunday, 11 October
Change Management: Familiar Ground and New Territory in Project Management Fees for this session are included with congress registration fees. However, you must register for this session to attend. Research Program Working Session is a one-day, pre-Congress research event that provides an opportunity to discuss current research topics of interest for the project management academic community. Organized around a specific topic, these interactive sessions provide both academic and applied perspectives to the issue at hand. The rate and pace of social change—particularly in the areas of technological advancements, knowledge production and information transfer—is making change the only constant in organizational life. Added to these are expected fluctuations in the business cycle, and the associated expansion and contraction in the size of organizations. The sea change that is occurring in all human systems as a result of the current global economic crisis requires organizations across industries and continents, in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors to adapt in ways that are both familiar and foreign. This session will focus on the management of change in organizations and, consequently, in projects and the project manager’s role in change initiatives in their organizations. Earn seven Professional Development Units (PDUs) for participating in this session. The day’s schedule includes a working lunch. Due to space limitations, early registration is strongly encouraged. |
