Professional Development Units (PDU)

PMI supports the ongoing professional development of those who hold PMI credentials such as the Project Management Professional (PMP)^® credential. The PMI Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) program assists individuals to maintain their PMI credentials. Read more about the CCR Program.

What is a Professional Development Unit or PDU?

• The PDU is the unit of measurement used to quantify approved project management learning and professional service activities.
• These activities must be related to project management topics that are substantially consistent with the Knowledge Areas and processes as found in A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK^® Guide).
• Typically, one PDU is earned for every one hour spent in a planned, structured learning experience or activity related to project management. Fractions of PDUs may be reported in 0.25 increments following one full hour.

Calculating PDUs for PMI GAC Academic Forum, R.E.P. Forum and Research and Education Conference 2010

By attending the GAC Academic Forum, R.E.P. Forum and Research and Education Conference (REC), attendees who hold PMI credentials can earn PDUs toward recertification in Category 3 (PMI Registered Education Provider/PMI Components). Earn up to 36 PDUs by attending the full conference program.
